Wakatipu take 2nd and 3rd Place

Tautuku Cup Results

-Fiona Rowley

Held annually, The Tautuku Cup saw 14 teams coming from Oamaru to Te Anau, with about 70 competitors and 15 administration staff this year. The teams had 9 activities to compete in including heli safety, radio aerial tracking, search techniques, navigation, observation tasks, rope rescues and first aid. Judged and scored on how they perform each task set.

You will all be stoked to hear that both teams entered from Wakatipu (SAR members and police team) placed in this years Tautuku Cup competition with the SAR team placing 3rd and the police team placing 2nd. 1st place went to the Wanaka team. This is an awesome effort with 14 teams entering the competition and neither of our teams have been to the competition before.

Our two teams also drew a tie in the IMT quiz and won the Rakiura trophy.

Everyone endured the fowl weather followed by lols including Ed winning a set of chainsaw chaps as a raffle prize then proceeding to wear them with undies and no pants….more tales to come……
