Routeburn Bridge Closure
Next month the Department of Conservation will be working on the upgrade of the first swing bridge at the start of the Routeburn Track. During the upgrade the bridge will be closed, and although the track will remain open no alternative crossing will be put in place.
Start date and track closure dates are from the 8th June 2009 until the 24th June 2009.

DOC hopes to complete blasting, tower erecting and cable anchors during the first week.
The completion date of the 24th of June (or earlier) is subject to approval and testing by DOC engineer Tim Cross.
